PIERCING AFTERCARE
WHAT TO EXPECT
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, and slight warmth are normal after a piercing and usually settle within a few days. You may also notice light crusting during healing. Following your aftercare advice and avoiding unnecessary movement of the jewellery will help support safe, comfortable healing.

If you have any concerns about your piercing or suspect you have an infection, please do not remove the jewellery unless you are medically advised to do so to avoid trapping an infection in the piercing channel.
TIPS FOR CLEANING YOUR PIERCING

01
CLEAN TWICE A DAY
Clean your new piercing twice daily using the sterile saline solution provided. Gently apply the solution to the front and back of the piercing using sterile gauze, allowing it to soak and soften any natural build-up. Avoid twisting or moving the jewellery. This should be done for a minimum of 2-3 months for lobes and 6-12 month for cartilage.
02
WASH YOUR HANDS
To avoid risk of infection, always ensure you wash your hands before and after touching your piercing.

03
SPRAY FRONT AND BACK
Ensure you are spraying the front and back of your piercing and distributing the solution evenly over your new piercing.
04
DRY AFTER CLEANING
After cleaning your piercing or showering, ensure you dry the area with a clean paper towel.

THINGS TO AVOID

01
SLEEPING ON YOUR SIDE
Sleeping on your side can irritate your piercing when it is healing, try investing in a donut pillow or a travel pillow to allow the area to breath if you are a side sleeper.
02
CHANGING THE JEWELLERY
It is important to wait until your piercing is fully healed before looking to change the jewellery. If you are not sure if it is healed or would like some help changing it, pop in and see us at the studio where we will be happy to help.

03
AVOID TOUCHING YOUR PIERCINGS
For best healing results, try to avoid touching your piercings. If you must touch them, please ensure you wash your hands thoroughly first.
04
AVOID SWIMMING
Avoid pools, saunas, hot tubs and the sea for at least 4 weeks after your piercing as they can contain bacteria and chemicals that can irritate the piercing and prolong the healing.
